As online shopping continues it’s upward trend, so does the quantity of shipping packaging produced on any given day.
Companies like Amazon and eBay–i.e. companies responsible for the production and shipment of literally tons of packaging–are starting to understand the role they play in the packaging pileup. Though their packaging is often simple and made of mostly earth-friendly materials, it is also discarded as soon as the contents have been removed. eBay’s response to this dilemma is the eBay Green Box, a series of a shipping containers intended to be reused up to five times. While some might call this a stopgap measure, it is nonetheless a step in the right direction for an industry (and packaging) titan.
